About The Fleming

Unique heritage

The Fleming is a spectacular Grade II listed former hospital located in Jesmond. Dating back to 1886, the historic Fleming Memorial Hospital was built to provide care for sick children across the North East of England for 101 years.

The estate is situated on a 2.2-acre site and has been extensively refurbished to restore the building’s original beauty, including the original stone façade and stonework, and period features. Renovation of the 31,000 sq ft internal space has presented six wings across the estate, comprising four principal buildings, together with two lodges, set over a landscaped site with a private gated entrance and onsite parking.

Location

The Fleming is located in the conversation area of Brandling Village in Jesmond, the leafy suburb approximately one mile from Newcastle city centre. The estate overlooks Jesmond’s popular green spaces, including Exhibition Park, Brandling Park, and Town Moor, and a stones throw away from Jesmond’s mix of independent shops, restaurants, and bars on Osborne Road, Acorn Road, and Brentwood Avenue.

The estate is ideally located near to public transport links with Jesmond’s Metro stations providing access to Newcastle Airport and Central Station, with the ability to reach London in less than 3 hours. There are several close bus stops, as well as great access to The Great North Road (B1318), linking directly with the A167(M) central motorway.
